A Message From The MEMBERS Financial Services Program A level term life insurance policy can provide important coverage for your income, your family, your home, and even your business – at competitive rates.
Term life features a level benefit amount guaranteed for a set number of years. There is no cash accumulation in the policy, but it can act as an effective safeguard against financial disaster. Here are four reasons why you should consider level term life insurance coverage:
- Protect your income. The insurance benefit can help replace your income. In fact, it can be used for any purpose.
- Protect your family. Policy proceeds can help your family maintain its lifestyle and quality of life.
- Protect your home. The benefit can help you make your mortgage or rent payments, enabling your family to stay in their home.
- Protect your business. The proceeds can be used to help a business continue to operate.
MEMBERS Level Term Series coverage, from the CUNA Mutual Insurance Society, offers level premium rates and benefits for 10, 15, 20 or 30 years. Benefit amounts range from $25,000 to $1 million or more. And you can convert your policy to permanent life insurance with the company during the term of the coverage.
For more information about term life insurance, including rate schedules, optional benefits, and any limitations of coverage contact James H. Van Wert, Jr., CFP, the MEMBERS Financial Services Representative serving members of your credit union. Contact Jim at (570) 208-4520.

Although we live in challenging economic times, you can rest assured that your credit union is financially sound and your money is safe. We have not fallen prey to the lure of easy money from issuing sub-prime loans or other questionable practices, but have instead kept our standards high and our balance sheet strong. It’s “business as usual” at Choice One where our entire focus is on your best financial interests.
We Focus On Financial Responsibility:
- Choice One is member-owned and not-for-profit. We provide low loan rates, high returns on savings, great convenience and member service second to none.
- Choice One is conservative and has always held its Mortgage Loans in portfolio rather than selling them on the secondary market.
- Choice One balance sheets have always been strong and they’ll continue to be strong long after today’s financial woes are history.
- Choice One deposits are federally insured through the National Credit Union Administration, an agency of the U.S. government, to at least $250,000 per deposit account (and up to that amount for retirement accounts).
So sleep well. Your credit union is safe and sound. For 68 years, we’ve grown your assets and safeguarded your future. We’re completely focused on your financial security and conduct our business responsibly. We’ll continue to provide the best in financial products, services, convenience – and safety!

Two lucky winners of our Springtime Getaway Drawing recently went to see local favorites, the Yankees and the Phillies, play their opening-day home games. They saw some exciting baseball and went out on the town – New York City and Philadelphia – as our guests.
Charlotte Duffy of Hanover Township was the winner of a 3-day/2-night getaway in New York, plus two tickets to the first game that was played in the new Yankees Stadium. Jamie Williams of Wilkes-Barre won a 2-day/1-night getaway in Philadelphia plus two tickets to see the World Champion Phillies play their first 2009 game in Citizens Bank Park.
The winners were chosen at random from all entries submitted for the Springtime Getaway Drawing. Members automatically received one entry and additional entries for opening a Certificate of Deposit. They also got extra entries for bringing in new members who opened a CD, with the new members receiving sweepstakes entries as well.
Congratulations to both our winners. We hope you enjoyed your day at the park and your time out on the town!

On April 20, Choice One Community reached out to young adults in the community by sponsoring a musicstream LIVESM concert at Wilkes University. The purpose of the concert was to promote financial literacy and encourage membership in the credit union. The concert featured performances by The Woody Browns Project and Scott McKenna.
Proceeds from the concert went to Wilkes University’s Money Matters Personal Finance Club. The club conducts workshops on financial skills and works to provide the tools students and young community members need to manage their personal finances.
musicstream LIVESM reaches out to youth nationwide by coordinating live concerts for credit unions. Promoting credit unions’ products and services, the shows stream on www.musicstreamLIVE.com so that Internet users can view the concert free, in real time and after it is over.
Choice One Community CEO John Kebles is enthusiastic about this type of outreach. “I believe that music can be the key to creating awareness with the youth of our community,” he said. “If we can get their attention, we can get them to hear our message.”
